Various mostly fingering weight yarns.
Slipped stitch edges - last stitch Swyif, first stitch Ktbl.
Working bottom up on the left side and right to left on the top side.
4” squares, planning to do 8 by 9 for a small lap blanket.

Temporarily finished at 8x8 squares, may add another tier of squares sometime.

Slip stitch edges are great for picking up stitches, but not for a stable, finished edge. So for outside edges, I just slipped first stitch as if to knit.
