My first note was written on December 18, the day before I put all my knitting aside for a while. My dad passed away the day after, on the 19th, and I was too stricken and heartbroken to concentrate on anything at all. I picked up my knitting again about 2-3 days after the funeral.

It’s finally finished! After a lot of trial and error, I was able to crochet eyes that seemed acceptable to me. I wrote down everything I did, then reversed my pattern for the second eye.

The last challenge was to embroider the web. First, to decide the placement, then I tried to crochet the lines with the black yarn, but the hat was losing too much stretch that way, so I embroidered loosely instead.

However, the stitches were too loose in many places, and I had to secure them all over with two strands of yarn, all without loosing the stretch. It worked!

The pics look strange without a face in the hole, and I can’t wait to see my grandson wearing it. I will take new pictures when he does!
