Notes

I didn’t use a pattern for the mitts, just the decorations. I knitted a tube to fit from elbow to wrist on an average arm, allowing for clothes underneath. I used various textured stitches, double seed, garter, Chinese Wave, and bobbles. I added rubber beads for interest. I knit the mitts with the 4.25 needle and the decor with a 3.25 needle. The Sheep and the big white flowers were knit with a sport weight yarn; the coloured flowers and the bee with cotton embroidery floss. I knit the beads in and wove in the decoration ends and further wove them in with yarn to reinforce the bond with the mitt. No stitches should be seen on the wrong side of the mitt. Apparently, patients will try to remove decorations if not strongly attached. I thought flowers and animals might stir memories as well as providing something to focus on.
