I’m using a laceweight yarn, so am knitting a size up from the recommended for my 35” bust.
I don’t want it tight, and the cotton yarn has no stretch.
31st May:
I’ve just separated sleeves/body, there were sooo many stitches at this gauge.
Absolutely loving how it looks so far, but now I need to put it aside for a test knit.
13th July:
This has turned into an ‘in between’ project, but at last the body is done.
To finish the edgings on the body/sleeves I did the following:
I finished the main body on round 6 of colour 1 (red).
Change to 2.5mm needle, then:
Work one knit round in colour 2 (grey).
Work 3 1x1 ribbing rounds in colour 2 (grey).
Work 2 1x1 ribbing rounds in colour 1 (red).
Work 3 knit rounds in colour 2 (grey)
Bind off.
I made the sleeves shorter than the pattern, working 5 rounds of colour 1 (red), as there was one round of red on the needles at pick up.
Then I worked the edging as for the body.
For the neck, I picked up as per pattern…for size 4:
Back, 44 sts
Top of sleeves, 12 sts (x2)
Raglans, 3 sts (x4)
Front cast on, 24 sts
Total, 104 sts.
This left me with 60 sts to pick up from the sides of the neck, so 30 each side.
I picked up every stitch along the bottom, sloping, edges, and 2 out of 3 along the vertical sections at the top, next to the raglans. I think it was only for three stripes, maybe 4, I should’ve made a note.
I did wonder whether every stitch on the sloping sides would be too much, but it’s perfect.
It’s not rolling, though, because of the cotton yarn.
And, it’s done. Not blocked yet, but I had to try it on, and I love it!
I hope it doesn’t shrink…
