C1 Cumbria Fingering, Grasmere Vale
C2 Transitions, Auroral Flux
C3 Amble, Exodus

I’m at halfway point for stitch count, and the colour changes are still behaving! crossed_fingers

I followed the colours as pattern until I’d done the 3rd dark blue stripe.
I wanted the ribbing to be a solid colour, and thought the dark blue would be too heavy and dominant, so that left C1.
I also wanted some of C2 to be at the bottom of the shawl, to balance it out, so I used that instead of the last blue stripe, then went straight to the ribbing with C1.
That meant missing the last 4 row dip st stripe before the ribbing, as I was using that colour next, anyway.

Colour change yarns can be unpredictable, especially as stitch count changes. I was really surprised at how well this coped with the long rows, and just used it straight from the cake until the last 2 stripes. These rows were very long (around 350 sts), so I spit spliced 2 sections of yarn in the same colour together, to effectively double the colour change length. I love the way it’s turned out!

I used more of C1, as the ribbing took 30g.
I used less of C2, due to using C1 for the ribbing.
I used less of C3, due to only knitting 3 of those stripes, rather than 4.
I weighed before and after a couple of the stripes, out of interest:
The 18th stripe took 6.5g
The last stripe took 10g.

Blocking, it measures 70” wingspan, and 31” down the centre spine.

I’m so impressed with the new Transitions yarn, and can’t wait to try out another colour. It’s also very soft, with a lovely halo.

This could be my favourite shawl yet, and it’s very soothing pattern to knit. I was impatient to see the colours change, and couldn’t put it down.

Make sure you have a 100cm needle, 80cm is not long enough! Even with 100cm, you need to be careful you don’t lose the stitches off the ends.

Blocked size is 66” x 29”. The wingspan has shrunk a bit since I unpinned it.
