High time I had a pair of knee socks to call my own. I had one look at the calf measurement that the pattern states and knew that I was going to have to do some alterations to get these to fit my small calves (13.25 inches)-it turns out all I had to do was go down a needle size though.
I knit these while working as a counselor/teacher’s aid at a camp for gifted kids this summer. I’m glad that I had an opportunity to show some kids how awesome knitting is!
I really like the way the elastic is inserted at the top-I’ve already worn these a couple times and I never have to worry about them slipping! Since I used black elastic, you can’t even see that its there. I did make a few mistakes, and they are pretty obvious to me, but nobody else seems to notice them, so I suppose I shouldn’t be concerned. I’ll definitely be knitting these again. I might even try an over-the-knee version!
