My gauge swatch measured about 5x5” and my niece is a big baby, so I knit with size small numbers to get a larger dress.

I wanted to knit the top first and the skirt from the waist down, so I did an 82-st provisional cast on and worked the garter stitch waist section before starting the bodice.

I made buttonable straps following LateClematis’s instructions:

And I added three ridges of garter stitch at the bottom edge.

When picking up for the edging, I picked up 2 out of every 3 st on vertical edges, and 1:1 across the horizontal edges. Next time I will pick up 3 out of 4 stitches on horizontal edges.

I hate the color (it’s old yarn; I don’t even remember why I bought it) but I’m going to try overdying with red dye for a happier orange…
