Update: Because I didn’t like the size of my FO, I added one more basketweave panel. I’m happy now:)

I used much less yarn than the pattern suggested, and my FO is clearly smaller…! I usually don’t knit very tight though. It may be due to basketweave stitches. I am a bit disappointed, but it is my fault. My mother is a small lady, so I hope it wouldn’t be too small.

This is the first time to use Tern. It has sheen from 25% silk. The characteristic of the yarn is very similar to other yarn of Quince & Co; it holds stitches well and show them beautifully.

三度目のバスケット編みパネル辺りからちょっとしんどくなってきました。二目毎のケーブル編みも200目越えたらいい加減辛いですー。バスケット編みパネルは合計四回あって、どんどん横に長くなってきているから忍耐が必要。母の日を目指して頑張らねば!

I have leftover from the third skein. It looks like I knit… too tight? No, I didn’t do gauge test. Obviously, my finished item looks a bit small. I couldn’t calculate how to repeat one more pattern, so I decided to block aggressively. It did stretch to the pattern suggested size.
I learned that it is always a good idea to make swatch even for a shawl or a scarf.

5.01.15 -
I just was not happy with its size, so I decided to add one more basketweave panel. After the additional stockinette panel, there were 299 sts. I increased 88 sts before basketweave panel, and the total stitch count at this point was 387. I did only 6 rows of basketweave pattern, decrease sts, and did border for 4 rows to use up all of my yarns.
I am now happy with the size:)

パターンに載っていた使用毛糸量よりずっと少ない量で出来上がってしまいました。なるほど、小さめサイズに出来上がってしまったようです。パターンの繰り返しをもう一つ増やそうかと思ったのですが、目の計算をするのが億劫なので、ブロッキングで思いっきり広げました。ショールとはいえ、スウォッチを作って損は無いんだなぁとしみじみ思いました。
出来上がりのショールはちょっと不思議な形というか、二等辺三角形で無くて、お魚のエイのような形で、長い上側の真ん中がちょこっと飛び出た感じになっています。形が気に入らない人もいるかもしれません。
