4.5 of 12 for 2012 (only one cast on in ‘12)
The MS&W hoors will understand the name! Plain vanilla toe-up kneesies. Started on the plane; I’d just finished a pair of Skews so I started with only 8sts for the toe. They are a wee bit pointy. :p
I used leftover Twilight Knits for the toes and heels; couldn’t have matched the colors more perfectly if I tried!
60sts for foot through midcalf; increased to 92sts at knee.
4/19/12: holy crap, finally cast on sock #2. Can I crank this one out in two weeks?
4/22/12: finished foot! I’m doing this one in 2x2 rib because I’m so in love with how my Francies fit. :)
4/23: decided to try Cat Bordi's Sweet Tomato Heel with sock #2. Stripes won't match up perfectly because it involves knitting a full round in heel color every so often, so NB for next time: leave mc hanging from work if you want your stripes to match up. STRIKE THAT, REVERSE IT. Tried on sock after finishing heel and a) fit was wonky, and b) heel seemed really…fragile, I guess, for some reason. Maybe it’s that I’ve been knitting flappy heels enough for anything else to seem wimpy. (Also, I find it slightly ironic that my whole ostensible purpose in this Year of Socks thing was to find NEW! and WEIRD! heel constructions, and what type fits me best? Yup, good ol’ Mister Flappy Heel. Oh well.)
4/29: finished with calf shaping- only went up to 88sts because the ribbing adds some stretch. I’ve got enough knitting left to add a couple more increases if need be.
5/9: FINISHED FINISHED FINISHED
