Notes

Season of firsts! My first test knit, being done for Mad-as-a-Knitter’s new pattern - Shrugtastic - aka “Retro-Rogue”.

This is a great pattern! Simple, clear instructions, uncomplicated construction and minimal finishing involved. The end product is a totally wearable, great fitting piece that is suitable for many occasions.

I opted for the more generously sized “Renaissance” version which, on my 5’ 1” frame gave me a shrug that lands comfortably just below my waist as well as at mid-arm length. The resulting lengthened shawl collar provides ample coverage in the bust - a lovely bonus for any “chesty” knitter hesitant to consider this style. (me included;)

The yarn softened up quite a bit after soaking - and boy did it soak up a lot of water! The scratchiness felt when knitting up almost entirely disappeared after its’ bath. The fabric texture and colour are gorgeous.
