Notes

I’m jazzed to be testing another gorgeous design by Irene Lin of Taiwan. Love everything she creates.

What I did differently:

  • I knitted the starting strip with size 6 US needle because the starting (neckband) strip looked much too small (only 8 inches long) when knitted on size 4 US needle. (I have very broad shoulders.) This resulted in a starting neckband strip that was about 10 inches (40 cm) long. After this initial strip was complete, I switched to a size 4 US needle for the rest of the body and most of the sleeves.

  • When picking up stitches from the starting strip, I only picked up 1 strand of yarn. This was a mistake. I should have picked up at least 2 strands because the front neckband ended up being narrower than the back and shoulder part of the neckband. The pattern doesn’t tell you how many strands to pick up, so let this be a warning..

  • I knit 8 inches from underarm (60 rounds) before starting the lace part on body and sleeves.

  • I did a 4-stitch i-cord bind off on the reverse side (WS) of the bottom edge. Then I did a bit of hand “sewing” with the yarn (also on WS) to help prevent curling.

  • After finishing the lace portion of the sleeves, I knit for an additional 3.5” before switching to the smaller needle and starting decreases.

  • 1 x 1 ribbed sleeve cuffs are 3” long (20 rounds). Then I bound off using JSSBO.

  • Due to my longer row gauge, the lace portion measures about 4” high prior to shrinking in a warm dryer.

Needles Used:

Size 6 US - Initial starting strip (back neck and shoulders)

Size 4 US - Everying else except for the sleeve cuffs

Size 2 US - Sleeve decreasing and cuffs

Weight of finished garment: 14.7 oz
