Notes

Another lovely pattern from Beatriz Rubio of Chile. This design has a great fit through the shoulders. Upper sleeves have a few short rows which helps the sleeves hang nicely. This pattern will work for both men and women. The yarn I chose hardly needed blocking, but I chose to pre-shrink the finished pullover in a warm dryer.

Needles used:

Size 7 US - Body and sleeves

Size 5 US - Lower ribbing and sleeve ribbing

Size 6 US - Neckband

Size 2 US - Bind off lower ribbing only (JSSBO)

What I did differently:

  • Sleeves are substantially longer than suggested in pattern. I did each sleeve per pattern instructions, including number of sts picked up, short rows, down to and including the first decrease round (70 sts at this point). After that, I increased the number of rounds between decreases as follows:

(Knit 11 rounds straight, One decrease round per pattern)
Repeated above 10 times = 50 sts

Knit 5 more rounds without decreasing before starting 1 x 1 cuff ribbing.

  • Sleeve cuff ribbing = 2.75”

  • Lower ribbing = 2.25” (I ran out of yarn to make it any wider.)

  • I picked up a couple extra stitches on both sides of the front neckline. If you deviate from what’s recommended in the pattern, just make sure you end up with an even number of total neckband stitches.

Garment measurements (after shrinking in a warm dryer):

Chest circumference = 42.5” (shrank 1.5”)

Back length = 27” (shrank 1.5”)

Body length from underarm = 18” (shrank 1.25”)

Sleeve length from underarm = 21” (shrank 2”)

Upper sleeve circumference = 13.5” (shrank .5”)

Lower sleeve circumference (above ribbing) = 9.75” (shrank .25”)

V-neck depth = 6.25” (shrank .75”)

Shoulder width = 17”

kimmyz's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Beautiful, sophisticated colors suitable for any sex
  2. Tweedy look, chain construction, great stitch definition
  3. Machine wash and dry. However, if throwing this into a warm dryer, expect the sweater to shrink 2 - 3 inches in length, but only 1 inch in width.
