Notes

Very quick and easy project. I held the yarn double throughout. This creates a very attractive “marled” effect with the colors. Wound single ball of yarn into 2 equal size balls to start. Had a little left over.

Long-tail cast-on tightly over TWO size 8 needles. This is an easy way to get a very neat and stretchy starting edge. After the ribbing, remainder of hat is knit on size 9 (US) needles.

Fit Judah perfectly. Super soft and warm. Machine wash and dryable. I think he likes it!

I followed the pattern exactly (72 stitch cast on). There are two minor errors in the written pattern ….

Under garter stitch description it should say:
…..purl (P) until end of round

Under moss stitch description it says “repeat those 4 rounds” when in fact, the moss stitch is only done for a total of 6 rounds (according to the pattern photo). And later on in the pattern is says “6 rounds of moss stitch”.

“Godron Stitch”? Who knew? I’ve been knitting for over half a century and still learning new things. I think this is the French word for “gadroon” which (in English) means “a decorative edging, typically formed by inverted flutings.” The designer, Christine is French. Thanks for the cute free pattern, Christine! My last holiday gift was completed in time and much appreciated.
