Notes

This is a baseball style pullover with contrasting (solid) color sleeves. Therefore, I could not work the top part in the round.

I knit the body bottom-up in the round to the underarms, at which point the front and back were knit separately and flat. I did not do any short rows, but the back is about 1.25” higher than the front which has some neckline shaping. The sleeves were knit bottom-up in the round to the underarm. Then I knit the sleeve caps flat. Sleeves were sewn to the body along the raglan lines, and then the neckband was knit in the round.

I did 2 x 2 ribbing for bottom edge, sleeve cuffs and the neckband.

There are no such patterns for this classic style - at least not how I wanted to knit this. Therefore, I had to wing it this time.

My gauge on the Speckle yarn:
21 sts x 26.5 rows = 4”

My gauge on the Paintbox solid yarn:
21 sts x 28 rows = 4”

I used almost every inch of the solid color yarn. Didn’t have much left over from the 4th ball of the speckle yarn either.

The speckle yarn did not pill in the dryer, but the Paintbox yarn did have some pilling. I soaked the pullover in a cool water/vinegar bath just in case there was some color bleeding from the slate gray yarn. However, there was no color bleeding that I could see. Sweater came out of the dryer wrinkle free and looking great. There is always some shrinkage (mostly in length) the first time in the dryer, so I allow for this in the sizing.

Measurements after machine drying:

Body circumference - 43” (shrank 1”)

Length from underarm to bottom edge - 17” (shrank 1.5”)

Center back length (not including neckband) - 26” (shrank 1.5”)

Center front length (not including neckband) - 23.75” (shrank 1.25”)

Front raglan seam - 10” (shrank 1”)

Armhole depth - 9” (shrank .5”)

Sleeve length from underarm - 19” (shrank 1.5”)_

Sleeve length from neckband - 27.75” (shrank 2.75”)

Upper sleeve circumference - 15” (no shrinkage)

Lower sleeve circumference (above ribbing) - 9” (no shrinkage)

Bottom ribbing - 2” (shrank .25”)

Neckband circumference - 23” approx.

Neckband height- 7/8” (shrank 1/8”)

Needles Used:

Size 2 US Addi - All ribbing + bind off for sleeves and neckband

Size 1 US Addi - Bind off only for the lower edge (JSSBO)

Size 4 US Addi - Body and sleeves

I did a Russian Bind Off for the neckband only.
