Notes

This was my first test for Aneta Szydlak-Bleyer of Germany, and my first test on Instagram. I loved this very elegant design the minute I saw it. The pattern is very well written, easy to follow and the fit is great. Love how it turned out in this dressy, sparkly yarn.

I got this yarn on Freecycle (2 approx 100-gram cakes). I have no idea what it is, but it’s mostly wool and hand dyed. It looked like it would be enough for this simple pullover. All of the yarn that I received from this particular woman was of extremely high quality and expensive. Most of it was purchased at Uncommon Threads in Los Altos, CA, and the price tags were still on some of the yarn, though no labels came with this yarn. I’m guessing that it was probably wound from skeins at the store. The yarn appears to be sport weight or heavy fingering. It’s 4 ply (2 strands wool, 1 strand silver metallic (Stellina), and 1 strand silk. The silk strand is extremely “springy”. It stretches a lot and then bounces right back (excellent memory). The yarn is beautiful and quite dressy looking. I did a burn test, so I know there are no synthetic fibers other than the metallic thread.

I contacted Uncommon Threads’ store to see if anyone could identify the yarn. They said it was not one of theirs. The two cakes of yarn were enough to complete the test, though I did have to make the top shorter than what’s suggested in the pattern. It’s very cute, and fits me perfectly. Shorter sweaters tend to look more youthful, so perhaps this was a good thing to make it shorter.

I started out with 7.9 oz (224 grams) of yarn.

Weight of finished garment: 7.3 oz (207 grams)

Needles used:

Neckband - Size 3 US (3.25 mm)

Sleeves - Size 4 US
Sleeve bind off (JSSBO) - Size 0 US

Body - Size 5.5 US (4 mm)
Ravelry calls this a US size 6. However, my US size 6 needles measure 4.25 mm.

Lower ribbing - Size 5.5 US (4 mm)
Lower ribbing bind off (JSSBO) - Size 3 US (3.25 mm)

Finished Measurements:

Bust circumference: 35.5”

Body: 34”
There is no waist shaping. However, the sleeve ribbing in line with the bust adds a bit more room in this area.

Length from underarm (where front and backs join, underneath sleeve ribbing): 10.25” (ribbing = 3.25”)
