Notes

I’ve wanted this sweater for soooo long!!!! When I finally found it and saw that it was cashmere and sold for around $1000 I hoped someone would make a pattern for it. Thank you Amber Allison!

This is my first sweater. I consider myself a novice knitter but I wanted this sweater so much I was determined to figure it out!
I used Sensations angel hair yarn in beige which is unfortunately discontinued now. They do have a new angel hair yarn but it’s not as nice in my opinion.

I started this the winter of 2013 but put it down until 2014. I really didn’t think I could pick it back up. The pattern was very confusing with the cables repeating on different rows but again I think for an experienced knitter it would be easy. This was also my first chart. Several times I thought I could write out the pattern but I’m so glad I didn’t. I definitely like charts better now that I’m used to them.

I used silhouette studio’s program to cut and paste the charts to keep track of the repeats and it worked beautifully.

Modifications:

  1. I kept twisting the small cables on the front as I decreased like I saw in other sweaters and I think this looks much nicer.
  2. I also kept twisting the small cable along the armholes in the back. I would do the front as well if I did it again.
  3. I bound off the neck pieces instead of joining the live stitches. I’m glad I did this however I’m not thrilled about how the cables lined up. Knitting more rows though would have made the neck too large/knitting less, too small.
  4. I deceased the waist about 2-3 inches after I was supposed to. This was not intentional but I was too lazy to rip it out:) It might work for a different body type. You can see in the pic that it puffs out a bit instead of fitting snug.
  5. I knit the sleeves flat with one extra stitch on each side for seaming. I would knit them in the round next time.

Notes/Other things I’d do different:

Many people mentioned that the arms were long but I chose to stick with the pattern because I like my sweaters that way and my arms are long. They would probably be too long for most people.
The arm holes are a little large for me but again my arms are quite thin and long so it would be perfect for others.

I would add at least two inches to the body length. I read this several times also but it looked like it would be long enough until it was put together.

I think I would knit the body together next time to avoid all the seams.

I didn’t do button holes for personal preference and not being sure which way I wanted it to cross. I think I’ll use a toggle or large pin.

Overall it was a lot of fun to knit once I had the pattern memorized. It took about two months total but felt like much longer! It’s a beautiful pattern and I will definitely make another! Thank you again Amber Allison! :)
