I alternated two hanks of yarn when I started (for the back), but got lazy on the front and just continued with one until it ran out and attached the other.

I had extra yarn, so picked up along the bottom edge of the wider front side and knit in stockinette for a few inches, ending with a garter stitch edging. I sewed it to the body on each side, and also ran a stitch up the center of the pocket -- to make it two! That side is likely going to hang a bit lower than the other because of the additional weight (even empty), but it’s cute!

I bought the yarn on opening day of my new LYS, Casting On, and later stopped in and found the perfect buttons!

This pattern is very similar to at least one other that I already have (and prefer).
