Happy to be taking part in the Chaika test…..thank you Midori
Completely undecided as to what yarn or even what colour but I’ve at least made a start on my swatching.
Pattern: Chaika (long sleeves, tight cuffs version)
body - 6mm’s
neck, wrist cuffs, bottom rib - 5mm’s

Mods:
Owing to my gauge being slightly off I added 4 more rows before joining after sleeve split and an extra inch or so before the bottom rib.
Even with my extra rows I still picked up the specified number of sleeve stitches.
I also added a couple of inches after all the sleeve decreases had been made and before the rib.
I decided to add contrast sleeve cuffs to match the neck and to emphasise the contrast decided to make the cuffs longer than the pattern specified (ribbed sleeve cuffs - 20 rounds)

Finished weight (after blocking) - 197g BUT only then did I realise that my first sleeve was longer than my second! I added a couple of inches to sleeve 1 before the rib cuff and completely forgot when I came to knit the second sleeve. This will need fixing but won’t make any significant difference to the finished weight. Unfortunately I cannot accurately say how much I used of each yarn. My main colour was also held double. (Yarn weights approximate)
Happy with my finished sweater and although I was concerned that the neck may not be wide enough it’s fine after blocking.
One great design. The pattern is so detailed with added versatility in the sleeve details. Thank you midori.

Surgery complete, I undid the sleeve at the cuff join, knitted the 10 rows of sleeve I’d forgotten and kitchenered back together.
