Excited to be finally taking part as a test knitter and absolutley love Midori’s ranunculus pattern.

The yarn I ordered has arrived but as the test isn’t due to start until next week I’ve decided to experiment with a few ideas from my stash….decisions, decisions!

Finished knitting and blocking. A great pattern with excellent pattern detail, so pleased to have been part of the test.
I followed the pattern 100% but owing to my tight knitting even using a loose cast on method my neckline is still a little less wide than the pattern specified. It’s always the same….try as I may I still cast on too tight! Plus, somehow ended up with 2 sts too many after the split for the sleeves. I checked the pattern but reckon it must have been my own error so quickly decreased a couple of sts on the next round.

I found this pattern such a pleasure to knit. Not only does it have lovely yoke detail, using stitches and techniques that I hadn’t used before, but the cast on methods and techniques for eliminating holes when splitting for the sleeves worked well and were clearly detailed. The short row working was written in full so made them completely straightforward and easy to follow.
An added bonus for my sleeveless version were barely any ends to weave in. Just my cast on end, bind off end and a single yarn join…not bad at all!!!

I used less than one ball (50g) of drops lace yarn and less than 50g of drops kid-silk. Will provide accurate weight when I get a new battery for my scales!
