This is a swatchless wonder. I figure that if it doesn’t fit our kid, there are lots of smaller ones deserving of presents. I was looking for a project to use up this yarn, and this seemed a good fit.

I don’t care much for the look of the shoulders in this pattern, so I think I may try to work in the EZ saddle shoulder shaping.

Aug 22:
Just finished the body, and cast on for the first sleeve. This thing seems to be sneakily knitting itself.

notes:
Picked up 68 sts for button band - increased every 3rd stitch to 90 sts. Start with k2, do p2 k2 rib.

January 2011:
As is always the way, I just put buttons on this sweater. Mr. Bug picked them out himself, and chose some lovely wood buttons with a flower pattern on them. For a sweater I made purely to use up some spare yarn, this turned out to be a lovely choice.

In the end, I followed the pattern as written, except for making an extra wide neck and button band. I also picked up the edge of the collar and knit the button band all the way up. The result is a wide collar that stands up, which works well with the multitude of collared shirts our kiddo seems to have.
