Decided to make these with some machine-wash Mission Falls. Because the MF is a DK weight, I’m making the 3T pattern and hope it will come out somewhere around 18 months - 2T. Because swatching is for sissies.

Done, and they fit perfectly! My row modifications worked just fine on the fly. Good thing I didn’t dawdle getting it done, it just fits him now. I may have to extend the straps when he grows a little, but in the meantime he has some nice warm pants for lounging about the house.

The buttons are two buttons I had left over from my Buttony Sweater, and they are a nice reddish match for the brown of this yarn.

About the Mission Falls: I am really disappointed. It pilled up within a few hours of my little guy wearing them. Granted, he is active, but I had expected them to stand up a little better than that. They are nice and soft, but they already look well-worn and old, and he’s only worn them twice. I suppose it’s the price of a soft yarn, but I thought the superwash treatment would have made it a bit sturdier. Next time I will try something a little tougher, maybe with acrylic blended in.
