Using 24” cable needle.

Making it up as I go. Casting on 196 sts.

Original gauge swatch indicated I would be doing 29sts/4in. However, actual real life knitting indicates 33sts/4in. OOPS. The sweater has now become a 24” chest (instead of 27”).

40 sts around was too tight for the sleeve - of course, that was only discovered after knitting a whole sleeve. I re-cast on 52 sts, increasing every 7th row up to 64 sts.

May 18: On to the second sleeve! This is going much faster than I thought it would. I’m thinking it’ll be a raglan top, but we’ll see how it goes when I get there.

May 21: Just finished all the weaving in of ends, tried it on the kid, and it will definitely fit for next winter!

I roughly used EZ’s Knitting Without Tears to do the raglan sleeves, though I did make some stuff up. The neck is probably too wide, but I was overcautious after making the neck too small on my last sweater for Bug.

I used just over a skein of the navy blue, but less than a skein of everything else. I used up almost all the beige, but have lots of everything else left over. So much for being worried about running out of yarn, I have enough left to make a whole other sweater!

July 27:

The kiddo is finally big enough to wear the sweater (and Vancouver is cold enough in the evenings to need one!), so I got some shots of it on him.

I had one of my friends call it as a hand-me-down for when his little baby boy is big enough to wear it. High praise!
