This design is available from the designer’s Etsy shop for less than the ravelry price.

Unique feature:
This design has the main body pieces in rev st st for texture.

Creative, Original Shaping:
All the pieces have detailed shaping, including the ears, which are quite innovative.

Something nice:
If purchased on Etsy, the designer sends the pdf to one’s email immediately in case there’s an issue with downloading it there.

Opinion:
The muzzle, in st st for contrast, seemed to long and more pointed than the design picture. I omitted rows 34, 35 from that area. The muzzle on mine is still less rounded than the original.

Issue:
There’s no photo tutorial. The directions for eye and ear placement are vague. The directions state what row to put the eyes, but not how far apart.
One must place the ears based on the poses of the completed bear. Directions for shaping the ears wasn’t clear to me and I’ve made hundreds of yarn animals. One needs to look closely at the design pictures.

Ms. Berry is a gifted, prolific designer and the above issues shouldn’t be the case. That said, anyone can make this design.

Nose:
Directions state to embroider the nose in a triangle shape, but it isn’t a triangle in any of the pictures of the finished piece.
Furthermore, if one looks closely at the design bear, it has a very beautiful, shaped knitted nose. The designer could have included the directions for the nose she made.
I made a knitted nose, as similar as possible, in an oblong shape:

Personal preferences:
I have learned that I don’t like the look of reverse st st.
Made one as written and one in traditional st st.

The head is proportionately small compared to the rest.
I recommend using a needle one size bigger for it.
