Started the gloves with cast on rd in Dark Fuchsia, followed by a stockinette rd in Dark Brown. (3,5 mm needle)
Then 9 rds 1x1 ribbing (3 mm needle).
Then inc rd, then 1 rd dark brown still (3,5 mm needle)

Found that 3,5 mm needles were resulting in too large a circumference of the gloves.
Frogged everything and restarted, this time with 2,5 mm needles for the ribbing and stockinette part, and 3 mm for the colourwork.

Made a chart of the very cleverly constructed Marktfrauen-Handschuhe thumb gusset (after the sts are put on waste yarn, she adds another small triangle by casting on 5 sts, which are then decreased every other round, and which makes for a very comfortable thumb construction), because I have to see how I will do the colourwork there. (Edit: Will probably make them similarly to the “Solace Gloves” pattern I linked above colourwork-wise.)
The thumb gusset for the right glove starts at 32 sts. This way, the jog is at the outer side of the hand. (For the left glove, it should start at 20 sts.)
I started the thumb gusset in a dark brown round after a teal round. It ended in a teal round, where the stitches were put on waste yarn (so basically almost a whole pattern height).
I have to remember to leave 6 sts out (or rather: skip) of the pattern in this position.

Placement of the fingers:
Not a 50/50 division for back of hand and palm.
30 sts for back of hand, 26 sts for palm.
The center of the thumb gusset is moved another 4 sts towards the center of the palm, on the left glove it´s 22 sts away from the beginning of the round (because that´s on the side of the palm), on the right glove it´s 34 sts away from the beginning of the round (because that´s on the side of the back of the hand).
Pinky: Picked up 6 sts on inside of palm and 8 sts on back of hand, c/o 3 sts in-between - 14 sts + 3
7 rds before bindoff
Now 22 sts for back of hand, 20 sts for inside of hand (palm) - the middle is not quite above the center of the thumb gusset, it’s 4 sts to the right!
Position of knitted thumb opening is exactly where it is when hand is relaxed, so quite perfect actually.
Then 4 rds for ring, middle, index finger before separating for remaining three fingers
19.10.2025
Ring finger: 6 sts palm, 8 sts back of hand, picked up 3 sts from Pinky, casted on 4 sts - 21 sts
10 rds
Middle finger: 7 sts each from palm & back of hand, picked up 4 from ring finger, casted on 6 sts - 22 sts
11 rds
Index finger: also 7 sts front and back plus 4 sts from middle finger - 18 sts (take care that bindoff is not too tight though because 18 sts are a little too few!)
10 rds

For the thumb, I only have 13 live sts instead of 15, because it fitted better with the placement between patterns to leave out the last increase rd. 15 would have been better, but it’s alright, not overly tight.
Picked up 5 sts from palm, plus two ditch sts. 18 sts total.
10 rounds.
