These potholders are supposedly for kids to make. However I found it nearly impossible to finish weaving using the Harrisville woolen loops. I recently watched a video from “VeryPink Knits” and figured out how to finish the potholder with the last few loops of material. They would not be easy for children to use.
I like to finish off my potholders with a crocheted edging. I did one like that several years ago and I really liked the effect.
Comments on the bottom two images: The three potholders on the left (Halloween colors, green/blue, and white, green and blue) are all woolen. The red, salmon and white are the same weaving pattern with a slightly different edging effect. The one in the lower right was the first one I made with some Harrisville cotton loops.
As far as I know, Harrisville no longer makes or sells the woolen loops. I bought them when I visited the mill back in 2005.
12 done.
These were a big hit. People were amazed that I had made them.
