Paid Pattern for the Socks That Rawk!! Q3 KaL

Portland Plaid is doing the job!
Colorful, contrasting and fun!
Had a bit of trouble with some of my colorways /weights not behaving themselves with this pattern for some reason, I do not normally have a problem matching yarn to pattern.

At last they are under way so all is good.

I am finding the that the very clear instructions, along-side some very pretty photos, are clearly written and a pleasure to follow.

I forgot to mention I am on holiday in Portland England
whilst I knit these! Is that a coincidence or what?

Cast on 56 sts using 2.5mm needles and Medium weight Str-size women’s small.

I decided on Medium weight rather than Light weight because I wanted the stitch definition to be at maximum allowing the duck and bubble stitches to really ‘pop’!

The Heel~
Just about to turn the heel with-a-difference, probably quite easy but I have not knit this type of short row heel before so it should be interesting and add another string to my bow!

The Leg/Foot
Zoomed down the leg/foot, memorized the 8 row stitch panel fairly quickly.

The Bind-off~
This pattern uses ‘Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off’ which I had not used before, it is surprisingly stretchy!
First sock completed 2 Aug 2014.

Second/Left sock is a mirror image, must remember that!!

Really enjoyed all the slippin’! And the new-to-me shadow stitch short rows on the heel and the also new-to-me really stretchy bind off, all in all a happy knit made all the easier by the simple stockinette either side of the fancy panels!
