Including toe and heel mods :)

I love knitting socks and modular knitting in equal measure so I just had to have a go at Harlequino and it has not disappointed!
Yes there are provisional cast-ons a plenty but it is well worth it!
Made up of 5 whole diamonds with afterthought heels and toes and cuffs.
They are a fun, fun, fun, knit! Have a go, there are so many combinations and looks out there waiting for you to invent!
Highly recommended, vanilla they are not :)

I used two similar self-striping yarns in contrasting colourways of bright primary colours. They had been in my stash for several years just waiting for this project to come along, yay!

I did not try to knit identical diamonds, and anyway I love to see the differences that occur when you just carry on the next diamond where you left the previous one. Also it saves on yarn not to! I think the two yarns work well together, the way this pattern is constructed works really well with two contrasting colour ways and it works out that you can truly alternate the diamonds!

There is plenty of positive ease due to the bias nature of the diamond decreases!

I have a short broad foot so this design was made for my feet, except for the toe. The short basic length of toe for this sock was too long for me so I had to rip back and rethink/design it, but I did like the look of original quirky toe design nevertheless!

HERE IS HOW I MODIFIED THE TOE-

I just decreased the Sl2kp’s (exactly where placed) in EVERY row omitting ALL other shaping until 8 stitches remained (1 sl2kp and 3 stockinette for the instep and the for the sole = 8 sts.) and then drew them together in the same way the diamonds are finished.

N.B. There is no need to knit the opposing increases because the angle of the opposing sides will slope in naturally at just the right angle all by themselves!!
If you do need to increase the toe and or foot length just follow the instructions given before completing with my mod!!!
The finished length of my modified toe without any added extra length is approx. 2 inches (2.5 cms.)

I also shortened the depth of the heel by decreasing in every row for the last three to four decreases still keeping to the 22 final stitch count (11 each instep & sole).

Each sock weighs 40g
