bought pattern July 25, 2008 online

8/1/08 - Received the pattern in the mail from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada - now I just need to get yarn that will work for it!

9/20/09 - Swatched and discovered Paton’s Classic Wool Merino gives me 5.5 stitches/inch on a size 5 needle which is close enough to 6 stitches/inch if I make the smallest size - the chest should end up about 42.18” around - perfecto! I plan to cast on and do the entire piece on size 5 needles. it’s a tight sweater but meant for outerwear anyway, so it should be just fine! :) Planning on using Jade Heather (77208) for the body, Natural (00229) for the upper background, and Paprika (00238) for the seahorses and accent lines. I’m really excited about this one… can’t wait to start!

9/21/09 - Started the first sleeve, 1x1 rib for 3”, then purl one row… switching to the “Natural” color and time to start the chart! fingers crossed. so far, so good.

10/15/10 - Decided to start on this one again - took the sleeve with me to San Francisco and finished it on the 200 mile drive north to Weott for the Humboldt Redwoods Half Marathon - cast on the back and now I’m working my way up to the next gaggle of seahorses…

10/27/10 Working my way up the back - started the colorwork on the back.. it’s exciting to have 5 skeins of yarn attached to my knitting!

11/1/10 continuing up the back of the sweater -took an “in progress” photo and Willow insisted on being in the shot!

1/7/11 Completed the back! (big exhale of relief!) Time to start sleeve #2!

1/12/11 Finished the second sleeve - cast on the two fronts. With some encouragement, I will be knitting both fronts at the same time.

1/31/11 Completed, all but one button came from Britex in downtown San Francisco. The last one is a vintage piece featuring a seahorse that I found online - I’m quite proud of this sweater!!

FYI - the antique seahorse button I used is from “Granny’s Thimble” - a pretty fun source for buttons! Check her out:
