The Diary of a Squid!
This project was inspired by someone’s love of the Cephalopod.
Ella Rae Classic was used to create Squidpocalypse aka Edna. I found this yarn on sale as one of the colors were being discontinued. Perfect color and price.
The yarn was used double stranded to create the bulky weight that was required to make this project.
The arms (8) were very addictive to make. No problem with the bobbles, strangely I enjoyed making them. Maybe it was the smoothness of my Brittany DPNs.
I thought I could do an arm (8) a day but that didn’t pan out. Started the arms on Feb. 20 and finished 8 of them by Mar. 4
Mar. 5 -Spent one evening and a half sewing and stuffing the legs.
This is really turning out to be a good gift. I hope I don’t decide to keep it for myself.
Project on hold (from Mar. 6 till Mar. ) as I’m looking for the perfect 24 mm - 25 mm safety eyes. Went to the local chain craft store, they had the size but wrong color. Why couldn’t they carry plain black eyes. I went searching on the internet found several online shops but they were in Canada or UK. Plus the sites I found in Canada wanted $20.00 CAD for shipping! Resorted to eBay, found them and it has been marked “shipped” as of Mar. 14.
Mar. 18 the eyes have arrived! Someone’s head is going to be stitched up today :)
Mar. 24 - fins attached?!… Checked!
Tentacles (2)?!… Uh only one more to make and attached. I know I want to finish this but I’ve come so far and I’m not going to rush it. Almost there and she looks great.
Mar. 25 - at last I attached the last tentacle and she looks great!
Sorry for my friend, she’s not going to get Edna. However because I feel guilty I will make another one of these for her.
