I used scraps of this and that to make some hearts as gifts for the 14th. Since it’s snowing, I popped in a Doctor Who dvd and was able to knit one heart per episode.

Clockwise from top left:
Joan Jett heart (black Lamb’s Pride on size 3 needles),
Prom Queen (pink rayon weaving yarn on size 0 needles),
Pumpkin Pie (orange two-strand yarn on size 3’s),
Sunshine of Your Love (yellow worsted weight wool on size 3 needles).

The orange one is a variant, since I didn’t have much of that yarn. I divided for the lobes at 24 stitches and did one round of decreasing (ssk, k1, k2tog, k1) 2X for each lobe. I had about 8” of yarn left over.

The only thing I did differently was, for the second lobe I picked up 2 stitches from the first lobe, instead of casting on 2 more and sewing up the gap at the end.

They were great fun to knit, and very fast. May knit more tonight, one never knows. ;)
