Made it to the M.6 chart which is repeated 14.5 times, with no indication on the chart that there’s half a repeat. face_with_rolling_eyes

Because my row gauge is 36.57 rows/4” blocked, after 72 rows I need to add 1 row. I’m working on M.5 (4rows/rep) after finishing M.6. The pattern calls for repeating M.5 three times. I’ll repeat it four times, it’s a great spot to do it. I’m good until I have 288 rows.

I ran out of the first ball of yarn that weighed 90.5g. I’m just over halfway through Row 19 (89 total rows) of M.3 on the first rep of 3 total reps. I’m going to use the 102.5g ball now.

I’m done the body to the underarms. It used 51.4g (217m/237.5y) - 51.1g left. Total used - 141.9g (598.8m/655.6y).

I’m going to use the previous ball of yarn plus the 100g ball to knit the sleeves TAAT.

I’m done the sleeves. They used 43.8g and 44.4g = 88.2g (372.2m/407.5y). There’s 7.3g and 55.6g left. Total used - 230.1g (971g/1063.1y).

The pattern, when going from M.2B to M.3B in the round on the sleeves, takes a jog and doesn’t line up (see picture). It needs to shift 2 stitches to the right. I’ll rip back and adjust it at the end of Round 1 of M.3B. It also takes a one-stitch jog to the right on Round 20 of Chart M.3B and another one-stitch jog to the right on Round 2 of Chart M.4B. I’ll adjust it at the end of the round before each one. Round 4 of Chart M.5B needs to take a one-stitch jog to the left for the pattern to line up. I’ll adjust it as I go.
For the sleeve increases I’m going to use kfslipb. I’ll knit one stitch before and after the increases.
With increases worked at the beginning and end of the rounds I need to treat the charts more like knitting flat. Round 4 of Chart M.5B needs to take a one-stitch jog to the left for the pattern to line up. This leaves the beginning of the round with an extra stitch, and the end of the round short one stitch. I’m going to adjust it on Round 3 by decreasing one stitch at the beginning of the round, increasing one stitch at the end of the round, and moving the markers.

Rounds 2 and 20 of Chart M.3B, plus Round 2 of Chart M.4B, need to take a one-stitch jog to the right for the pattern to line up. This leaves the beginning of the round short one stitch, and the end of the round with an extra stitch. I’m going to adjust it on the previous rounds by increasing one stitch at the beginning of the round, decreasing one stitch at the end of the round, and moving the markers.

All my modifications stopped the spiralling of the sleeves around the middle of the underarm plus the diamonds line up with the knit stitch at the tops of the swoops. Before I bind off the ten underarm stitches on the sleeves I’ll take a picture to prove that they don’t spiral around and that everything lines up with my modifications.

I ran out of the 7.3g of the second ball about 1/4 of the way through the first row of M.7. I started using the 55.6g left of the third ball.

I got to the right length on Row 16 of M.7 to start the neck shaping.

After the end of M.7, using my pre-blocked gauge, it’s 65cm long and it needed to be worked to approximately 63cm long. There’s 1.7g of the third ball. It should be enough to pick up and knit the neck sts. After picking up and knitting the stitches there’s stil 1.1g left. I won’t need much of the fourth ball. If I’d have done the swatches with the lightest ball (if I’d have known it was different face_with_rolling_eyes) I would have a little extra left over. After picking up sts on the RS row, I worked a WS row, then about 3/4 the way through the next row I ran out of the third ball. I worked the last buttonhole on this row. It’s not spaced as far apart as the rest, but there wasn’t much I could do about it.

I worked the collar to 2cm/3/4” long.

I’m finished knitting the sweater. It used 289.9g (1223.4m/1339.3y) of yarn. There’s 95g of yarn left.

Before blocking the hem at the scallops is 82.5cm/32-1/2” in circumference. The bust is 95cm/37-1/2” in circumference. It’s 64cm/25-3/4” long to the bottom of the scallops. The sleeves are 50cm/19-3/4” long to the bottom of the scallops. The sleeves at the scallops is 19.5cm/7-3/4” in circumference. Just above the scallops it’s 24cm/9-1/2” in circumference. 37.5cm/14-3/4” wide.

With 4mm needles I had a stitch gauge of 22 sts/3-3/4” wide. I did get row gauge - 16 rows was pretty much 2” long. It used 5.8g (24.5m/26.8y).

After washing on wool wash in my front load washer the stitch gauge is 22 sts/4-3/8 wide. The row gauge is 16 rows/2-1/8” long.

After machine drying I had a stitch gauge of 22 sts/3-7/8” wide. The row gauge is 16 rows/1-3/4” long. So there’s 22.71 sts/4”. There are 36.57 rows/4”. This will be a bit narrower but the gauge is close enough.

Pre-blocking row gauge = 32 rows/4”.
Post blocking gauge =36.57 rows/4”.

To measure -
32 rows pre-blocking x 1.125 = 36 rows post-blocking.
10cm pre-blocking x 1.125 = 11.25cm post-blocking.

After swatching there’s 90.5g left from the 103g ball of yarn.

Doing a little stocking stitch swatch to see if there’s any difference between the skeins.

I started with the one I’m using that weighed 103g. Next up is the one that weighed 101.5g. I’ll mark the first row of the new skein. This one worries me. Now I’m going to use the skein that weighed 102.5g. Well, I guess I’m checking the fourth skein that weighed 100g.

The second one is a lighter shade so I won’t be using it. The next one I’ll use is the 102.5g, then the 100g skein.
