I made size small. I got to the point of seaming the socks. I could finally try them on and could hardly get them over my high instep, plus they were stretched to the limit when I finally got them on my foot. So now I have to rip them out and decide which size to make now. They used 46.2g.

I should’ve measured the heel to the instep because it’s only 4-1/2” long. The other pair I made in the same basic construction measured 5-5/8” long and fit perfectly.

I figured out the rounds/sizes sm, med, & lge. Size lge should be 5.482” long, which should work. The leg and foot/toe have 72 sts. At this gauge I usually use the size that has 64 stitches. If I keep the toes in ribbing through the toe shaping they should work out and the leg should be fine as is. Ribbing is very flexible.

I started over on June 22.

I’m ready to start the charts. It’s 3-1/8” long from the heel to the top. It used 26g (103.5m/113.4y). Finished the charts!

Before seaming, I needed to work the stitches before the first marker on the first needle, NOT slip them, so the working yarn would be in the correct position to knit the last seaming stitch together with the first ribbing stitch of the held leg stitches. See my photos. Otherwise, I followed the directions in the pattern.

I finished seaming the first sock. I put the last stitch on the same piece of yarn as the first stitch so they’re ready for the k2tog stitch when I pick up the leg stitches, plus I needed to get it off the needle to do the second sock. I’m done seaming the second sock. From the heel to the seam they are 5-3/8” long. They used 70g (278.6m/322y). They fit quite well, but went over my instep a little snugly. The tightest part was where the ribbing split from the pattern. I could feel it on my foot but it should relax enough after blocking.

I worked the leg until I got to the yellow/purple section to match the colours the toes were stopped at. The legs are 3-3/4” long from the top to the seam round.

The sock was 1-3/4” shorter than my foot when the seam was done so I need to start making decreases as soon as I started the foot/toe end of the socks. I’m making wedge toes so will need to adjust the start of the round. I wanted 1/2” of negative ease on the foot so I needed to do the decreases over 1-1/4”. I decreased on rounds 1, 3, and 5, then every round (6-13) until there were 28 sts left. I grafted the remaining sts.

The toe decreases worked, look good, and fit perfectly. Phew!

All I have to do is graft the toes and weave in the ends. I tried one on and it fits perfectly! I needed the large size for my high instep so they were almost too long at the foot/toe end and the pattern goes quite far up my leg.

Finished! The socks used 92.7g (369m/404.2y).

Before blocking the socks from the heel to the instep are 5-3/8” long. The leg from the top to the instep seam round is 3-3/4” long. The leg from the top to the centre of the heel is 10” long. The foot from the centre of the heel is 7-3/4” long.

After blocking the socks from the heel to the instep are 5-1/4” long. The leg from the top to the instep seam round is 3-1/2” long. The leg from the top to the centre of the heel is i-3/4” long. The foot from the centre of the heel is 7-1/2” long.

The balls weighed 49g and 48.5 = 97.5g.
There’s 3.5g and 2.3g left = 5.8g total.
