Notes

I decided to make the garter stitch version. Plus, per the pattern - To make a sock in garter that twists the opposite direction, all you have to do is turn it inside-out. Sounds awesome! grinning

I used the garter stitch option because I didn’t want baggy ankles and legs, plus with my high instep I also wanted to get my feet in them.

I’m making the finished length of 7-1/4” and narrow width.

I ripped it out and started over. It looked slightly sloppy at some of the increase points.

I finished the first 12 rows. It’s 2” wide. That’s closer to the length of the stocking stitch version (2-1/4” long) than I thought it might be. I can stretch it out to 3-1/8” long. It used 26.6g.

I finished Stage 2. It’s 3-1/2” wide, but stretches to 6-1/2” wide. It used 19.1g. There’s 52.6g left.

I finished Stage 3 and it’s 5” wide. I tried it on and it fits like it should at this point.

I decided to use Mountain Mist as the contrast colour for the short rows. The first sock used 2.3g. The second sock used 2.4g. Total - 4.7g.

I measured the width before grafting. It was about 5” wide on the leg and 5-3/4” wide at the instep.

I wove in the ends on the sock that has the blue contrast colour on the right side to make it swirl in the opposite direction. That’s the one I turned inside out. I’m going to wear them, wash and dry them, then see if I can trim the ends so I can wear them “inside out” if I want to. blush

I’m finished the socks. They used 70g (278.6m/305.2y) of yarn. Total/ yarn - 65.3g of Beyond the Wall and 4.7g of Mountain Mist.

Before washing and blocking the leg is 7-1/2” long from the cuff to the heel x 7” in circumference at the heel and 7-5/8” in circumference at the cuff. The foot is 8” long from the toe to toe back of the heel. The gusset is 81/4” in circumference. I had to wiggle them on plus they’re tight. They should be fine after blocking.

After washing and blocking the leg is 7-1/2” long from the cuff to the heel x 6-3/8” in circumference at the heel and 7” in circumference at the cuff. The foot is 8” long from the toe to toe back of the heel. The gusset is 7-3/4” in circumference. They fit perfectly now! grinning

The balls of Beyond the Wall weighed 49.6g and 49g. Total - 98.6g. Used 65.3g. 31.9g left.

The balls of Mountain Mist weighed 13.6g and 14.4g. Total - 28g. Used 4.7g. 23.3g left.
