Notes

Larry joked that if I didn’t feel like finishing the toe of a sock, I could just leave it open & use it as a windsock. Well, guess who’s getting a knitted windsock? shrug::skin-tone-4 rolling_on_the_floor_laughing

Using an embroidery hoop as the base, I single-crocheted 44 sts of Cotton-Ease onto it as for a magic ring. Switching to the Bonbon yarn, I did another round of single crochet sts. Switching to US 9 needles, I knitted into the front and back of each crochet st, for a total of 88 sts. (In retrospect, I think either doing two single crochet sts into each Cotton-Ease loop or casting on 88sts in the first place would look better, but oh well. I made this up as I went along.) Place markers every 11 sts (8 sections).

Spiral Pattern:
Round 1: *yo, k to 2 sts before marker, k2tog* eight times.
Round 2: *ktbl, k to m* eight times.
Repeat Rounds 1-2 until almost out of current color, ending with a modified Round 1 that omits the YOs. (This 8st-decrease, worked at the end of each color section, creates the slight funnel shape of a typical windsock.)

Switch to next color and k one round even, then begin Spiral Pattern.

Final length, measured from just below hoop: 20.5”.
Final stripe count: 6, ranging in length from 2.75” to 4.75”.
