I used a 36-peg round loom for this. My knit version is an e-wrap. I used 2 strands of Red Heart Worsted Yarn.
For the brim:
Rows 1-9: k2, p2 to end of round.
For the hat body, I followed the chart for rows 1-7:
- Rows 1-2: purl
- Row 3: knit
- Row 4: p4, k4
- Row 5: knit
- Row 6: p4, k4
- Row 7: knit
Note: Alternative chart for Rows 4 & 6: p3, k3
Follow the hat body chart until you reach the desired length. For this project, I did 3 sets (this added up to 37 rows including the brim).
Closing the hat:
I used the Decrease YouTube tutorial from GoodKnitKisses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySbNvLvHqsk. This isn’t as good as the original author’s nice closing top, but it is similar. This will make 3 rows. I did the counter-clockwise style, instead of the clockwise one like in the video.
- Row 1: follow instructions from the video, where peg 2 over peg 1 and knit over; repeat sections. Knit the pegs that have yarn still in it; skip the empty pegs.
- Row 2: follow instructions from the video, where peg 4 over peg 3 and knit over; repeat sections. Knit the pegs that have yarn still in it; skip the empty pegs.
- Row 3: follow instructions from the video, where peg 6 over peg 5 and knit over; repeat sections. Knit the pegs that have yarn still in it; skip the empty pegs
Do the gather removal method on the last of the yarn still left over on the pegs. Weave in ends and block as desired.
