Notes

Knitting this project using a one-pass method for two-color brioche. I’m following sockmatician’s tutorial for the basic method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_dKbE7SL68

I also managed to find a tutorial for the one-pass version of the increases on YouTube as well. The decrease turned out to be fairly straightforward to figure out.

Other Notes

  • For the decrease, I figured out how to do a version that doesn’t show a blip of the LC on the DC side where the decreased stitches meet. This modification just involves not giving the stitch slipped for the decrease a YO on the previous row (i.e., bring the yarn to the back between the needles, instead of making a YO).

The effect is that the stitch below has two YOs, while the decrease slip stitch has none. This kind of leaves a bit of a hole where the YO would have been, but it’s not too noticeable, especially if the piece isn’t stretched.

  • Working this pattern with the one-pass method, I’ve noticed that I have to pay attention to how the yarns cross at the beginning of working the LC side.

After working the first two sts (1 DC and 1 LC), the DC yarn should cross over the LC yarn to work the next DC stitch. Crossing the DC yarn under the LC will cause a DC blip to appear on the LC YOs at that edge of the work.
