Used about 40g yellow (100% cotton 8ply), flower included, and 130g white (acrylic 8 ply), plus two buttons.
Started with a different yoke:
Row 1 with CC: foundation DC chain of 48 dc; = 48 dc
Row 2 with MC: ch3 (counts as 1st dc), turn, ch1, skip 1 dc, dc in next st across; = 24dc + 23 ch-1 spaces;
Row 3 (increase row): ch3 (counts as 1st dc), turn, 2dc in next Ch-1 sp, dc in next dc across; = 70dc;
Row 4: ch 4 (counts as 1st dc and ch-1 sp), skip next st, dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st across; = 35 dc and 34 ch-1 sps;
Row 5 (increase row): ch 3 (=1st dc), turn, 2dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc across, turn; = 103 dc;
Row 6: as row 4, plus an extra dc = 52dc and 51 ch-1 spaces;
Row 7: last row of yoke; changed to CC, started the shells and, for a dress construction, at the end of the row joined with a sl st on top of 1st ch3 of row, as follows: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2dc all in the same ch-3 space)=first shell made, skip next st, make shell in next ch-1 sp repeat to end and join with a sl st on top of 1st ch 3; = 51 shells;
Round 8: changed back to MC, divided for armholes and worked in rounds: ch 3, dc in same st, shell in next 7 shells, work the chains for underarm (I made 5 ch to accomodate in round 9 two extra shells per underarm), skip next 11 shells, shell in next 15, ch for underarm (i.e. 5ch), skip next 11 shells, shell in next 7 shells, finish with 2 dc, ch 2 and a sl st on top of ch3 from start of rnd; 30 shells;
Rnd 9: shell in shells and dc in each ch for underarms;
Rnd 10: shell in shells and made the extra shells in the dc’s I added at underarms; I ended up with (30 + 2 + 2) shells = 34 shells
Rnd 11 on: working to desired length: 34 shells.
I made a total of 23 rnds, changing to CC on rnds 19 & 21, then back to MC for rounds 20, 22 & 23.
