As I used an eyelash type of yarn, I made some changes:

For the body: I made two more rounds - that is, up to 50 rounds, and had 48 sts just for this part (rnds: 34-48). Decreased back to 46 sts on rnd 49. I didn’t work in moss stitch as it wouldn’t make any difference for the eyelash yarn I used.
At the end of rnd 31, before starting the “feathers”, I ran a piece of red string through the sts so I could see where to place the tail feathers.
After that I followed the pattern as suggested.

For the beak: I made the I-cord one extra row (rows: 71-73, then row74: b/off) to balance the eyelash yarn (looks bigger).

For the legs: I made the I-cord of 6 sts and 22 rnds;
claws 1&3 = 3 sts + 7 rnds, B/O on 8th;
claw 2 (middle one) = 3 sts + 8 rnds, B/O on 9th;
back claw = 4 sts + 5 rnds, B/O on 6th

For the tail feathers: I made only the top tail feathers. I needed something really simple as having eyelets didn’t matter when working with eyelash yarn.
My Top Tail Feathers: Cast on 10 sts and knit 1st row.
Then my pattern:
Row 1: Sl1, Kf&b, K1, Kf&b, K to end = 12 sts
Row 2 and all even no’s: Knit
Row 3: Sl1, Kf&b, K1, Kf&b, K to end = 14 sts
Row 5: Bind off 4 sts, K to end = 10 sts
I repeated pattern rows 1-6, nine (9) times all together (total of 54 rows); then bound off on RS and kept going, picking up the 27 sts on the straight edge. Further, I followed the suggested pattern.

For the wattle: with the WS inside, I rolled the bottom parts in and sewed them a bit rolled in; this way they are a bit puffy, also displaying the RS. I attached the wattle with the WS facing out, straight under the beak, for about 1 cm, and then I sewed the edges at the top a bit. So, basically the WS is now hidden and the wattle looks quite convincing. I sewed a couple of stitches at the bottom of wattle just to keep it in place.
