11/26/2013 Gauge swatch matched tension specified on pattern. CO 142 st. for Front.
1/18/2014 Front section ~50% complete. I’m enjoying the cable work even though I’m moving more slowly than with a more straightforward stitch pattern.
5/3/2014 Finished the front section and CO 142 for Back. I’m in a rhythm now with the cable pattern, so I’m knitting with more confidence.
6/22/2014 Back section ~33% complete.
8/1/2014 Back section ~65% complete. If I want to finish this sweater before winter I need to pick up the pace, but life is a little busy right now.
8/30/2014 Finished the back section. It looks like the front and back sections both took me about 4 months to knit. I wonder if I can get the sleeves done more quickly?
9/13/2014 I’m about halfway through the first sleeve. With an 8-row pattern and increases every 5 (later, 6) rows, I knew I didn’t want to keep track of everything in my head. I made written notes with details for each increase row: row number, number of stitches in that row, and how to work it into the pattern.
10/12/2014 Finished the first sleeve and cast on for second sleeve. I wish I remembered how much yarn it took to knit the first sleeve. I have just under 2 skeins left and am wondering if I will need 1 or 2 more to finish the project.
11/13/2014 With about 80 rows left to knit plus seams, I ran out of yarn. Fortunately, the yarn was still available at Knitpicks, and I ordered 2 skeins. In my experience their color is fairly consistent across different lots, so I am hopeful the change will not be obvious.
12/06/2014 Finished the second sleeve! The new yarn matched the old very well. I used a little more than 1 skein, so I still have yarn left for seams and the neckband.
12/23/2014 Finished! And it fits my husband perfectly.
