Fun project. This yarn is like super thick roving. If I tug on it with some tension, it breaks easily, but knit up I suspect it will be fine. I just need to be careful when doing the cables. It does have lots of little twiggy bits and guard hairs in it, but I don’t mind, as I think it adds to the rustic feeling. Overall it is soft.
My measurements 1, 2 & 3 were: 17”, 15”, 19”
Got to 40 sts at 13 repeats and 6 rows. Kept going working 40 sts even (no more decreases) for another 8 row repeat for a total of 15. I left the 40 sts on my needles and picked up 40 sts along the opposite edge and sewed them together.
3/5/15 Picked up and knit 60 sts along bottom edge from inside. Then knit another row, then purled 2 rows, knit 2 rows. Using Double-Crochet Bind Off from Cast On, Bind Off page 116
Overall, I am happy with this pattern. The collar is too big for me, but I did add that extra repeat. I’m going to try to see what I can do with a little tucking here and there…. also ordering the Mockingjay Pin and may use it to keep the collar from taking on a life of its own.
3/9/15 I did do a little “smocking” around the collar on the left shoulder. It made the collar look a bit scalloped, but I’m happy with it… better than the gaping look. I think I will wear my pin on that side. My plan is to wear this to the Mockingjay Part 2 movie… I think it is not so exactly copying the original that people will think it is weird, but just gives the flavor of the original in a nice sort of way. My kids are sure they are going to be embarrassed, but I’ll be happy and warm, so I don’t care.

Alas! I took out the edging a couple of months ago, wanting to re-do the collar, but found it difficult to frog (did a better job of hiding ends and seaming than I thought!)
Fast forward to yesterday…. It wasn’t anywhere near ready to wear to go see the Mockingjay Part 2, so I went without and just wore the pin instead.
When I finally get it frogged, I will probably use the yarn to make a ROUS.
