Inspired by sun sails I see in Europe I thought zip tying them together framed in hoopla hoops might make them easier to hang and maintain.
I bought all the materials at dollarama and didn’t notice until home the hoopla hoops are all slightly different sizes.

1.Dream Catcher Materials
Hoopla hoop approx.28”
Brass ring 2”
Thicker twine to cover hoops and “craft” twine for interiors.
24 Strands: Lengths will vary depending on string sizes but I used 140” per strand.
Glue, scissors
Cover the brass ring and hoopla hoop by winding twine/string around, then fastening.
Then Loop each strand in half over the covered brass ring using a lark knot
Row 1&2: using 4 strands (quad),make 2 square knots from the ring
Row 3: Then select 2 strands from one quad and 2 strands from the neighbouring and repeat the square knot to stagger the knots
Row 4: Then go back to align with your original quad of strands to make a square knot that aligns with your first stitches
Row 5-11: Continue alternating until you reach 12 “. Check the fit with the hoopla hoop by placing the hoop on top of your work.
Row 12: make the last knot a double or triple
2.Mandala Material
Hoopla hoop,approx.30”
Crochet hook size 7
Cover hoopla hoop in thicker string
Crochet mandala beginning with a magic circle. I doubled up on the craft string for thicker.
Join circle ss
Row 2: Ch3, Dc in next st, Ch3, 2xDc in next st (petals)…Repeat so you have 7 petals. On the last petal ch.1 and dc to join with 1st (total 8 petals)
Row 3: Ch4, Sc in each (earlier ch3) loop, ch4 and Sc in same loop…Repeat around…On last petal ch.2, yo and dc in side of first Petal to close the row (total 16 petals)
Row 4: Ch5, Sc in loop pattern as you did in row 3
Row 5: Ch.6 …if you want more coverage you can add “clusters” in each loop by ch.3, sc, dc halfway x2 and then pull through all 3 loops,on the hook to complete…then ch.3 (to =6) and continue Sc only once in each petal
On the last petal ch2, yo and dc in of first petal (16)
Row 6: Ch.7,,Sc only once in each petal. On the last petal ch3, yo and dc in base first petal
Row 8: Ch8 and repeat pattern to Sc around as previous - last ch, yo 2xand triple crochet in base of last stitch
Row 9: Ch.9…
Row 10: Chain 10
Keep laying the hoopla hoop over to check size…I ended when I had 2” gap to stretch the mandala but not bend the plastic hoop. You can make denser for less sun by adding “clusters” more often. I did twice to test.

Chair seat materials Cover 32” hoop in thicker string and fasten Cut 24 strings. I tested 130”. (Some were too short) You will use 20 in pairs to start and 4 as single additions as you progress. A typical seat would use eg. Cotton rope 3”+ thick so I decided to double up on the craft string as I did this with the mandala. Fasten 4 cords using Lark knot in the center of the top of the ring. Then 4 cords on either side of center 2” apart. Continue to add total of 10 sets across the top on either side. Row 1: being with 2 cords from the center and 2 cords from the left side and create a square knot that leaves 1” length sides. Working with hoop hanging you will be creating diamonds shapes across the hoop. Repeat with the center and right cords. Row 2: continue to add in sets from either side As you get to 10setsyou will need to add in an 11 and then on the next row instead of adding wrap the cord around the hoop, https://youtu.be/7lBWebYecAQ

Swirl Hexagon https://youtu.be/cehV6oLh97M I continued to 17 rounds so ended up with 16 st sides of the sq. Row 15-17 I ch.6
-
Ch 6. Sl st to join and the ss in each of the next ch-6 sp. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. Add a ar,ear as the new start of the round. 1 sc in each of next 17 sc. 6 sc in next ch-6 sp. (23) Rep from to last ch-6 and 5 in last sp. Join with sl st to first.
In the pattern 18 x 4 sides =72/6=12 and it had sc every 11st. So for 23 x 4=92/6=15
To create hexagon sides
18. Ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 1. 1 sc) in same sp as sl st.
1 sc in each of next 15 sc. (1 sc. Ch 1. 1 sc) in next sc. Rep from 4 times more. 1 sc in each of last 15sc. Join with sl st to first sc.
19. Ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 1. 1 sc) again on each corner, 1 sc in each of next 15 st. Repeat until desired size.
