2013-03-17: started, and finished cuff of first sock

2013-03-18: done ankle - went for 39 rows - shorter than in the pattern, though 2 more than originally intended due to slight miscounting of tally marks!

Did heel flap. Started to do heel shaping, but partway through realised it was off-centre and had wrong number of stitches. In un-knitting it I dropped a couple of stitches, ended up having to pull back three rows of the heel flap.

Discover reason for initial problem is that the heel flap is somehow only 29 stitches wide, not 30. Re-do the last 3 rows twice, eventually getting a nice increase in place to get the right number of stitches. Re-do heel shaping.

Should probably leave it here for tonight!

2022-12-13 - Oh I forgot to update this when I finished these. They are now both done (having suffered for a long time with second sock syndrome) and have gone to live with my mum. Exact finish date unknown, so I’ve gone with the start of this year. The delay may be partly attributed to having a baby three days after I started knitting them :) Socks as old as Matthew!

2024-04-15: found picture of finshed socks, taken in May 2021, so that is my new official finish date!
