still going with this project, but it’s looking great so far. Currently on the medium jumper. I thought I’d start with that one to see how it knits up, because if it was too small my boyfriend could have it as he’s a small, but it’s knitting up as the perfect medium, so it’s definately going to be for one of his friends. Next I’ll go onto the small.
They want these jumpers to wear on a night out around Christmas time so they are being made to look typical Christmas tacky jumper style. The pattern I’m using is a really nice pattern and using more subtle colours it looks really fashionable (although for the purpose of this project I’m going for the tradtional green, red and a bit of light brown for the reindeer).
I’m going to alter the pattern a little for each jumper. The original pattern has two reindeer on the front and back, but to make them different for each of the boys I’ve created a snowman chart for one jumper and a Christmas tree chart for the other.
Because I’m using chunky wool it is knitting up really quickly, although it is bobbling a little in some places as I go along (but I blame this on the cheap wool I’m using). Knowing that these jumpers will most likely only be worn the once by the boys I’m not going to spend a small fortune on the wool, but if I were to make one to be worn seriously I’d use the recommended wool for the pattern (around £5 for 50g) in light grey, darker shade of grey and white.
I’ll take some photos of my progress later on and add them to show how it’s going.
