So my lovely friend Lorna has been asking me to knit her a Christmas jumper dress for the last 3 years… but it takes a lot of effort and a big project like this was something I was really struggling to find the time to complete, but I’ve vowed to have it done this year and I’m making good progress.

The pattern itself is from Rowan, but I got it as part of Simply Knitting Christmas special booklet in 2010 (I think).

The pattern is for an average length jumper, but Lorna wanted a jumper dress to wear over leggings/tights or jeans, so I’ve simply added on about 50 rows before starting the shpaing for the waist.

I’ve also done it in very Christmassy colours, rather than the grey tones suggested by the pattern. It’s getting me in the festive mood and I tend to knit this whilst watching an array of Christmas films, wearing Christmas socks and drinking tea from my Christmas mugs.

The back is complete! Yay! I’ve started the front which is the same as the back until the neck shaping, but again I’m adding length to the jumper to make it a jumper-dress. X

I’m up to the shaping of the waist for the front. It’s coming together nicely :)

All the pieces are knitted together and are now drying after being blocked. My aim is to get it all seen up and packed away by the weekend. I’m really pleased with how it’s gone. A lovely, clear pattern to work from.
