Notes

going to be getting this started this week, but I’m in no rush to finish it as it’s for a Christmas present from my Dad to his girlfriend/partner/other half…. whatever the older generation like to refer to them as :)

18th August, 2011:

Bit more done last night. In the images it looks a little messy, but I promise it’s looking lovely. Probably should be using longer needles so it doesn’t get quite so bunched together, however they are in use for a blanket at the moment by my mummy.

29th September, 2011:

I feel like I’ve been slacking with this project, but honestly, it is going to finished one day! There’s still plenty of time until Christmas anyway. I’ve now got the back finished and have started work on the left front, but I’m juggling this project with about 6 other things at the minute. I’m personally not a massive fan of the cable pattern. I think there is a little too much going on wih it, and some of the corss overs look a bit muddled. Maybe once I’ve done some blocking to it, it will look better.

Also, when I started the left front, the pattern all of a suddent stops using thr double moss stitch, but only for one side of it. Random! So I had to change this, and rather than working in the garter stitch as the pattern says I’ve continued to use the moss stitch. The pattern also appears to differ from how the jackets looks on the pattern photo. In the photo the cardigan shows that it goes straight from the cable pattern into the stocking stitch for the border edge. Yet on the pattern instructions there it goes cable pattern, followed by the ‘garter stitch’ or moss stitch due to my changes and then into SS.

Odd. I thought maybe this was because I am knitting a large size that what the model is wearing, but it’s not. Nevermind. I’ll update again soon as I get progress with the left front.

2012!

Woah! It’s been ages since I’ve been on here. I have finsihed this project…. finished it way back in November, but I seem to have gone into ravelry hibernation or something. I keep meaning to login and catch up with my latest knitting escapades, but then something always distracts me.

Anyway I am alive and I have finsihed this project and have done many others since. The cardigan worked out really well and the recipient was very pleased with it on Christmas day.

I’m in need of taking some darn good pictures of it though.

I did change the cable pattern for the sleeves, to just use a simple crossover cable pattern, because I thought there was just a little TOO much going on with the patterns on this cardi.

I’ll get better pics up soon!
