Up to the second stripe of raindrop pattern.

I ran out of yarn in the Shale colourway on the second to last row! I finished this row but I’ve had to use the Inverness to finish the last row of the raindrop section. I omitted the yo’s in the last row of Shale as I predicted I wouldn’t have enough to come back with.
Now hopefully I’ll have enough of the Inverness to finish the border. Fingers crossed. Lots of people seem to have run out of yarn knitting this shawl so hopefully I don’t need to order more from the US.
I went to start the border today but couldn’t figure out where the final st to ssk to the shawl came from. Thanks to ZaraD on the Lete’s Knits discussion board, I now know what to do. I wasn’t aware that the slipknot to start casting on the cable cast-on isn’t counted as a stitch so it’s x number to cast on plus the slipknot. There’s my extra ssk stitch!

I have completed 6 repeats of the border. As I’m concerned about running out of yarn, I decided to weigh my ball of yarn before and after a repeat. The ball weighed 55g before I started the repeat and weighed 49g at the end, so 6g per repeat. As I have 12 repeats plus 8 rows left to go, I’m going to need 12 x 6g = 72g + 8 rows worth and I now only have 43g left. So I need to order another skein of yarn. Bummer.
I figure if I do two repeats per day on the border I can get this finished in a week but now that I need to order more yarn, I’ll have to wait for shipping from the US to complete it.

Completed 8 repeats of the border. I have also purchased my new skein of yarn. It will likely take 10-15 days to arrive so there’s going to be a delay on finishing this. :(
Finish
A beautiful shawl! The border felt like it was going to take me forever but once I got familiar with it, it became quicker and easier. It’s a pity that I had to order more yarn as I only used 12g of the 100g skein. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t scrape a Blitz project for the KAL; by 21 yards! Argh! ;)
