Notes

Needles: circular needles Size 9 US / 5.5 mm, and 24” long was sufficient. Project worked back and forth, not in the round.

Gauge:
4 sts / 1” in stockinette
15 sts / 4” in stockinette

The pattern is a 24 stitch repeat plus 25. I wanted this to cover my 6’ son nicely, so made 8 repeats. I also added 1 stitch on both ends of each row, as a knit stitch on both right and wrong sides. The finished size was approximately 68” x 48 “. I didn’t block it since it was acrylic and this particular yarn doesn’t seem to benefit much from blocking.

I cast on 217 sts, and knit first two rows for garter stitch border.

I’m using grey, dark brown (Sequoia), rust (Yosemite) and gold.

Some people who knit the Chevron Baby Blanket said the edges curled, and that’s why I added two rows of garter stitch. I first knit it with four rows, but thought it looked too bulky for the blanket. I didn’t want a wide border to take away from the pleasing look of the chevrons.

For the chevron bands, I did the following:

Grey: 2 rows garter stitch (on beg. and end)
then in the chevron pattern:

Grey: 14 rows

Dark Brown: 4 rows
Grey: 2 rows
Dark Brown: 14 rows
Grey: 2 rows
Dark Brown: 4 rows

Grey: 14 rows

Rust: 4 rows
Grey: 2 rows
Rust: 14 rows
Grey: 2 rows
Rust: 4 rows

Grey: 14 rows

… and on in this way with the grey bands separating the other coloured bands. The coloured bands for the entire blanket were as follows:

Grey
Dark Brown
Grey
Rust
Grey
Gold
Grey
Dark Brown
Grey

Grey

This was a fun blanket to knit. The pattern was simple to remember once I got going, and the chevron effect is really amazing. It fit across the top of a twin bed (see photos). It didn’t take too long to knit up, although a baby-sized blanket would have taken a lot less time :)
