Notes

I don’t know the number of yards/grams I used. The label doesn’t say how many grams are in a skein, and I didn’t think to weigh the balls before using them. I definitely have enough to use to make a second Lucy with the colors reversed. Or I have enough to make a whole other single-color hat with the natural color.

Boy does this yarn grow after being washed! I’m afraid to use this yarn again for fear of how large and misshapen the finished project would be. The Lucy Hat isn’t too bad, though. It fits a little loosely around the head (though that could also be an artifact of not going down needle sizes to do the “brim” - the colored band), and it actually feels a little short to me. Of course I have trouble telling how long a cap should be based on my pea-sized head.

Fun project, though. I would make it again. I would do a better job with the sewing, though. I kind of rushed and did a hack job on it. No bueno.

Oh, and I used a Shout Color Catcher when I washed the hat. I think it worked well. There was definitely black dye on the cloth when I fished it out. The natural color isn’t as bright anymore as it seemed in the skein, but the colors didn’t bleed onto one another. I would call that a success.
