I somehow managed to cast on 42 stitches when I meant to cast on 56. I decreased two stitches to match it to the multiples of the hat. The 40 stitch hat is actually big enough for a female. Next time I might want to do a 48 stitch cast on for a male mat.

I didn’t follow the pattern’s decreases in terms of the knit 1, purl 1 on every other row. I tried to purl the purls and knit the knits instead. Not sure how I feel about how it turned out at the top. I might try doing it the way it’s written next time.

I knitted the body of the hat to 6.5”. Next time I might try 6” instead, since there was a bit of a slouch. If I do it for a male, the original length might be fine, though.
