Cast on with size 8 needle, long-tail cast-on. Knit with size 6.
I use two different colored markers to separate the large center panel “[]” from the smaller repeats - place marker pmA and pmB. On the set-up row (right-side row):
K4, pmA, K8, pmA, K8, pmA, K8, pmA, K8, pmA, K8, pmA, K8, [pmB, P3, K15, P3, k1, pmB], K8, pmA, K8, pmA, P11.
This lines up with the repeat patterns for rows 1 and 7. I rewrote the pattern for the other rows so they are all K4, six 8-stitch repeats, the 22-stitch center(ish) panel, three 8-stitch repeats, K3. Otherwise it was too hard to follow. I set this aside for a while because of the way it was written. This was also my “out-of-house” project for waiting rooms etc. (rarely worked on while in the house) so took longer. This project has been to Hawaii and Cancun.
This pattern doesn’t have a chart, but I don’t use charts.
Did 26 pattern repeats with 14g of yarn left at that point. I could have made one more repeat before the border, but I thought that would make it too big.
Cast off loosely with size 8 needle using decrease bind-off, k2tog through back loop, move stitch back to left needle. I tried several methods, trying to get the same amount of stretch as the cast on. Had about 10g of yarn left over.
This yarn bled a lot when I washed it.
